Energy Trilemma Index

  1. Indonesia's Trilemma performance has improved marginally over the last two decades with significantly higher scores for Energy Security.
  2. Its performance improved due to higher energy storage capacity, improved access to modern energy and clean cooking facilities.
  3. The reduction of natural gas prices from April 2020 will make for more affordable energy to consumers.
  4. Reducing emissions remains a key challenge to improve sustainability score given the country's heavy reliance on fossil fuels. Indonesia gets a balance grade of ACC and its global rank is 56.
